Mr. Mike Nicolson joins Doolin’s Sibín (pronounced “shebeen”) VIP Room for a special whisky event. On Wednesday, January 25* (cost of $25) you are welcome you to join us for an intimate, social club-style session with Mike, where you will be sure to learn something new and experience whisky in a way you never have before.
Mike is a Master Distiller who learned his trade over three decades at some of Scotland’s finest Scotch producers. He is now semi-retired and relocated to Vancouver Island, where he took his expertise Shelter Point Distillery, overseeing the acquisition and installation of the custom made copper pot stills from Forsyths in Scotland, and advising on the various other components and ingredients.
Both of Mike’s grandfathers were distillers on Islay and his father was a Lowland Grain Distiller. Whisky distilling is very much in his blood, and over the years, he worked as a Master Distiller at Lagavulin, Royal Lochnagar, Blair Athol, Glenkinchie and Caol Ila. He also worked at Glen Ord, Teanninich, Glen Albyn, Glen Mhor, Aultmore, Dallas Dhu, Dalwhinnie, Benromach, Cardhu, Rosebank, Linkwood, Linlithgow and Glenesk. In 2003 he was recognized by Whisky Magazine with an award for special services to the industry.
