The Wine Umbrella produces a one-night only Sherry-Tapas Bar at Commercial Drive’s Croatian Cultural Centre featuring the diverse wines of Sherry. Presented alongside these fortified wines will be an abundance of signature tapas created by Vancouver’s Celebrity Tapas Chef Gord Martin of Bin 941 and Bin 942. Running from 5 to 8pm, the evening’s vibe will be set by musical phenomenon DJ Leanne, all for the low ticket price of $29 – a charity fundraiser for Partners in Recovery.

Brought to you by the Consejo Regulador de las Denominaciones de Origen”Jerez-Xérès-Sherry”, “Manzanilla-Sanlúcar de Barrameda” y “Vinagre de Jerez“, FEDEJEREZ and Wines from Spain, this event was created to encourage discovery and share the many wonders of the extremely diverse wines produced in Southern Spain’s Jerez region. Aiming to shatter the illusion that Sherry is a ‘dated’ drink meant only for aperitifs, this unprecedented evening will spotlight the many delicious wines under this classification, from bone-dry Finos to sticky-sweet Pedro Ximenez (PX) Sherries, as well as Olorosos, Amontillados, Medium and Cream styles.

Sherry and Tapas are a natural pairing and as such we are pleased to have Gord Martin on board as the event’s exclusive Chef. Best known for his delicious tapas and pinchos served at Bins 941 and 942, this savvy restaurateur was a pioneer in the trend that has become a Tapas explosion in Canada. Entertainment by Vancouver’s renowned DJ Leanne only adds to the fun of the evening, making this a lively and enlightening fundraiser for Partners in Recovery – assisting stroke survivors and their families.
