Earthwise Society is hosting its fifth annual Hundred Mile Banquet on Saturday November 2, a five course gourmet feast that celebrates the diversity of food and wine produced in our region. The event will be held in a restored barn at the Earthwise Farm, where much of the food is being grown.
The Hundred Mile Banquet is our signature fundraiser in support of our education and community programs. Each year, hundreds of children visit the Earthwise Farm and Garden to rediscover their connection with nature and learn first hand about growing food. Through our leadership with Delta Food Coalition, we distribute thousands of pounds of fresh produce to families at risk and help make sure that everyone has access to healthy, nutritious fruit and vegetables. Here is your opportunity to share a unique dining experience with us and help us reach our $15,000 goal to support our programs.
This year’s Hundred Mile Banquet features the talent and creativity of Chef Derek Bothwell of Gastown’s Chill Winston restaurant. Chef Derek “walks the talk” when it comes to fresh, local, and organic. Every week throughout the summer he and his culinary team leave the city behind and head out to the Earthwise Farm for a morning of volunteering in the field. The Hundred Mile Banquet challenges our chef to use only ingredients sourced from within 100 miles of the Earthwise Farm to create a delicious and imaginative meal. Each course is paired with carefully selected local wines.
