From our friend Colin from Just Here For The Beer….
Oktoberfest is coming to Surrey on October 17th, 2009 at The Compass Point Inn Hotel. The festival takes place from 4:30-9:30 pm and promises a fun filled evening of beer tasting. This is the first year of Oktoberfest in Surrey but it is sure to be a mainstay due to the response of the exhibitors and consumers.
The original Oktoberfest took place in Munich in 1810 and it is the worlds largest fair and the most famous event in Germany. Oktoberfest 2009 is presented by Just Here For The Beer Ltd. The company owns and coordinates several other beer tasting events, including Vancouvers largest beer festival.
The venue is in a perfect location states Rick Mohabir, co-owner of the company. Surrey has a huge community of beer enthusiasts and the hotel is right beside the SkyTrain station making convenient for people across the Lower Mainland. The hotel is less then 100 metres from the King George SkyTrain Station.
One of the goals of the event was to bring a Downtown style festival into Surrey. Our events have focused on venues in Vancouver but a lot of our clientele is based in Surrey comments Colin Jack, the president and co-owner of the company. Both Jakes Steakhouse and Amber Jacks Tap House have a great selection of beer available in bottles and on tap. We want to help showcase the products that the hotel features on a regular basis Jack continued.
The tickets are $45 and it includes beer samples, food, a live band, dancers and a souvenir mug. The all-inclusive price will allow patrons to taste several different beers from 20 exhibitors who will pour up to 100 different types of beer.
Tickets are available online (www.justhereforthebeer.com) or through The Compass Point Inn Hotel.
