The following news release came from Kitsilano Daily Kitchen Today.
After nearly five years at 1809 West 1st Avenue, Chef Brian Fowke and partners Derek Lew & Mike Edwards are pleased to announce the transition of 1809 West 1st Ave into the hands of a well-established food star in the Vancouver scene. A Top Chef Canada Contender; and one of the most brilliant young cooks to work with Chef Brian Fowke at Joe Fortes Seafood & Chophouse.
Chef Brian Fowke quotes ‘…it is time for me to make a transition that is good for both me and my partnership that will allow 1809 to continue to grow with an injection of a hot, talented young chef. It’s time for me to take the vision of that quirky little restaurant called Daily, opened five years ago with no signage or a menu and grow it into something iconic within the Vancouver restaurant scene at a new location’. Chef Brian Fowke and Partners will keep a small investment in 1809 for one year to help the new Chef/Owner transition.
Kitsilano Daily Kitchen is a restaurant rated by Mia Stainsby 4/4, top ten on both Yelp and OpenTable for over two years straight running and ranked in the top seven by Zagat.
Chef Brian Fowke and team will continue to run Kitsilano Daily Kitchen until February 1st, 2015 at 1809 West 1st. In that time they will be experimenting with new food ideas and recipes. The Iconic Six Course Culinary Adventure will be offered every night – with the price rolled back to the $65 price of 2010.
Until the end of the month Kitsilano Daily Kitchen will be open from Tuesday – Saturday with a limited seating of 36 covers per night. Chef Brian Fowke will be personally cooking each and every meal, assisted by Chef de Cuisine Joel Chiasson.
Expect to see some of the great alumni front of the house making guest appearances the last few weeks of Kitsilano Daily Kitchen. This is going to be a ton of fun! The future of food and hospitality is exciting in Vancouver.
More information to follow as it becomes available.
We wish them all well and will certainly be in before this closes.
