What To Do Around Vancouver
I can’t believe it’s the last week of July! June and July just flew by as we took some time to head to the Island, had lots of family visits and then there’s the fact that I am working full time in ECommerce now. I’ve got much less time to blog, tweet and Instapost, but I’m loving it here at Satel where I’m around people, learning new skills and then there’s that whole thing called a paycheck! There’s so much to do around Vancouver right now, but here’s a few things that you may want to put on your radar.
On International Friendship Day, on-demand food delivery service foodora, is bonding buds even closer with tattoo food pairings almost as iconic as the friendships receiving them. A special 2-for-1 deal from Assembli in Vancouver will provide foodie friends with its signature pizzas, alongside a set of semi-permanent tattoos in partnership with Canadian startup, inkbox! These tats offers a pain-free solution with authentic looking tattoos that last up to 18 days. Designed by renowned tattoo artist Curt Montgomery, the exclusive tattoos will celebrate dynamic duos like wine and cheese, milk and cookies, bacon and eggs and more!
Dinner in The Sky – North Vancouver until July 28 (then West Van)
I checked this out last week and it was stellar. Chef Ned Bell was at the helm and it was an extraordinary dining experience. It may not be cheap, but dinner in the Sky lifts you up over 100 feet off the ground by a giant 200 foot crane and the views are amazing. Chef Bell’s dishes were divine and all the ‘Sky Chefs’ dish up the latest in modern cuisine.
Bard on the Beach
Make sure Bard on the Beach is on your list of musts for the summer. We’ve seen Macbeth, which was stunning, but the real gem this summer is As You Like It, on stage until September 22 on the BMO Mainstage. Set in Vancouver in the 1960’s the performance includes 25 classic Beatles songs, from “I Want to Hold Your Hand” to “All You Need is Love”, performed live by the cast. You’ll be singing and dancing along in no time.

National Chicken Wing Day July 29
If you’re a fan of wings you may need no excuse to eat some drumsticks or wingettes, and of course National Wing Day is a holiday you won’t want to miss. 7-Eleven Canada will be celebrating the holiday by offering 10 wings for just $7.11! You’ll have a selection of wings to choose from including crispy, hot, honey garlic, and more! The convenience store’s wings are made with 100% Canadian chicken, are cooked on demand and come hot from the oven in minutes.
- The most popular dipping sauce for wings is ranch dressing – a cool and creamy dip (blue cheese dip is a close second!)
- The world record for most chicken wings eaten in a sitting is 363 wings in just 30 minutes, held by Molly Schuyler in 2014.
- A reported total of 1.3 billion chicken wings are consumed on Super Bowl Sunday – this could circle the Grand Canyon 120 times.
- 7-Eleven Canada has been in the chicken business for 20 years – and the chickens are raised by Canadian farmers with no added hormones or steroids (like all chicken in Canada).
- It’s believed that Buffalo chicken wings were first served in a bar in Buffalo, NY in 1964 – and we haven’t looked back since.
