On the heels of winning two silvers and one bronze for its collection of whiskies at the 10th annual Canadian Whisky Awards, Odd Society Spirits took home seven gold and one silver medal, plus a Best in Class and an Excellence in Terroir honour at the 2020 Canadian Artisan Spirit Competition (CASC), announced Feb. 5. In addition to these prestigious awards for its spirits and liqueurs, Odd Society was awarded two golds and two silvers for its packaging, designed by Cause + Affect, in the CASC’s new branding category for a total of 14 accolades at the national spirit competition.
“It is an absolute honour to have our spirits recognized at the national level,” said Gordon Glanz, Odd Society Spirits founder and distiller. “We are very proud to be representing the West Coast along with many other innovative and respected B.C. distilleries.”
The CASC recognizes excellence in Canadian artisan distilling and is organized by Artisan Distillers Canada, a national organization focused on celebrating and highlighting artisan distilleries and spirits across the country. Submissions from qualified artisan distilleries are judged blind by a distinguished panel of experts and evaluated on a point-based system in four categories: nose, palate, finish and quality. Based on the sum of the scores from all judges, spirits will be awarded a bronze, silver or gold. The top spirit in each category is also awarded Best in Class.
