Chef Demos, Brunch and Bisque for the 2023 Spot Prawn Festival

Anyone that knows me knows I love spot prawns. I’ve been around for a while and I saw the evolution of the acceptance of the BC Spot Prawn, due to the efforts of Chef Rob Clark, who has done so much for our seafood industry that he recently received the Order of Canada. Chef Clark will be at the festival, along with Chef Julian Bond, who are both at Organic Ocean, and they’ll be serving up the amazing Spot Prawn Bisque designed by Chef Poyan Danesh. This is a fundraiser for the Chef’s Table Society, of which I am a member, and they use the funds for scholarships and are working on a culinary library and event space.

There are two brunch services, one at 11:30 am and the other at 1:30 pm for 19 years and over. They’re stand-up, outdoor events with wine and beer available and tables dispersed around the event where you can perch and enjoy your prawn dishes. Come earlier and try the Organic Ocean Spot Prawn Bisque & bun and we will have local celebrity chefs doing cooking demos that are open to the public along with local sustainability partners sharing their information, and you can buy fresh BC Spot Prawns direct from the fishers at the wharf.
