Make it SLOW! Make it WILD! A Fundraiser Dinner Wednesday, June 26th
Burdock & Co is a big fan of the Slow Food movement, a global grassroots activist network that champions local traditions, sustainable practices, and the joy of eating. Wednesday, June 26, a special *fundraising dinner* in celebration of all things slow, wild, local and delicious to support our home community of advocates, Slow Food Vancouver Coastal with take place at Burdock & Co.
One special night to raise funds to send delegates from BC – including an indigenous representative from Turtle Island, as well as members of Slow Fish and Slow Food Youth – to attend Slow Food’s Terra Madre in Turin, Italy this fall. Terra Madre serves as a platform for farmers, fishers, artisans, and food activists to share knowledge, celebrate culinary traditions, and explore innovative ways to address global food challenges aiming to ensure everyone has access to good, clean and fair food. Terra Madre is a springboard for work on social justice by the Slow Food movement worldwide, our voice is important on this global stage.
The unique multi-course tasting menu, created by Chef Andrea Carlson and featuring generous food donations from local producers and foragers, will spotlight a bounty of wild foods and flavours from around BC. This dinner is a chance to slow down to savour what our environment has to offer and to learn more about the work of Slow Food in BC.
Chef Andrea comments: “Slow Food is a response to the commodification and industrialization of our food systems. They fight for the preservation of ancestral production and artisan products. For me, being part of Slow Food is important as it reminds me to connect to the natural cycles which are so important as we are crafting menus, responding to climate change and the needs of our local environment.”
Let’s come together and support a cause that champions sustainability, cultural heritage, and the transformative power of food! Let’s raise the funds to send our delegates to Italy!
