This year’s Fusion Festival features a superb line-up of international and local artists, celebrating the vastness of Surrey’s global community with two full days of music, dance, food and culture. The Fusion Festival will also bring together 30 international pavilions and exhibitors who will present a delicious array of world cuisine while showcasing their heritage.
The following countries will be participating as first time cultural pavilions at this year’s event:
- Fiji
- Ghana
- Nepal
- Nigeria
- Sri Lanka
- South Africa
- Trinidad & Tobagos
Also new this year, a cultural pavilion will be representing Canada. The Canadian Pavilion is a partnership between the City of Surrey, the Arts Council of Surrey, the Francophone Association of Surrey, and the Kla-how-eye Aboriginal Centre of SACS. The pavilion will provide a variety of arts and crafts, information on the history of Canada, as well as food services provided by Chef Andrew George from the renowned Kla-how-eya Culinary Arts Program.
Popular pavilion from previous years will be on site including Aboriginal, India, Jamaica, Pakistan, Peru, Portugal, Hong Kong, Ecuador, Afghanistan, Armenia, Barbados, Indonesia, Kenya, Korea, Palestine, Philippines, and Vietnam. Plus, expect bigger and improved pavilions from Poland, Mexico, China, Taiwan and Russia.
“Fusion Fest is Surrey’s largest multicultural event that celebrates the culture and diversity that our city is so proud of,” says Surrey Mayor Dianne Watts. “There will be 30 pavilions and over 40 acts on four stages, so there will be something new for everyone to experience this year.”
The cultural pavilions are an integral part of the Fusion Festival. The pavilions provide an opportunity to showcase different cultures and the opportunity to sample food from all over the world. In addition to the fantastic food, the pavilions also will be displaying and selling a wide variety of arts, crafts, and merchandise authentic to their culture.
