A 75-minute treatment at Aloemira Head Spa on Main Street left me with great-looking hair and a rare moment of calm.
My mind is always running, so even when I am being pampered, switching off can take a while. During my visit to Aloemira Head Spa on Main Street, I finally managed it. The treatment was superb, my hair looked great afterward, and I felt like a queen.
I visited on October 28 for The Crown, a 75-minute head spa treatment. The name turned out to be rather appropriate.

Settling into the treatment
The room has warm wood walls, soft lighting and beds fitted with illuminated washbasins. A curtain runs between the two treatment stations. Towels and treatment tools are set out beside the beds.
Lying back with a towel over my eyes, my head resting above the basin and mist rising around it, I had plenty of encouragement to slow down. It still took me a little time. Relaxation does not arrive on command for me, but it did arrive.
What The Crown includes
Aloemira describes The Crown as a scalp-care service combining cleansing and exfoliation with shampoo, conditioner, a hair mask and fresh aloe. Its menu also lists micro mist, water and light treatments, plus massage for the scalp, neck, shoulders, arms and hands, including hot stones. Hair drying and hot tea round out the service.
Great hair and a little extra pampering
Aloemira uses products from local hair-care brand AG Care, which develops and makes its products in the Vancouver area. I loved that local connection.

The foot massager was another highlight. I wanted one of my own afterward.

My hair looked great afterward. I felt thoroughly looked after, and that is what I will remember about this visit. For someone who can find it difficult to slow down, finally relaxing felt particularly good.
Planning a visit
Aloemira is at 4213 Main Street in Vancouver. The Crown is listed at $175 for 75 minutes, with a $155 pre-booking rate also advertised. Check the booking page for the rate that applies to your appointment, and allow an extra 10 minutes for consultation and changing.
The spa recommends arriving five minutes early. Two reserved parking spaces are available behind the building on a first-come basis, with paid street parking nearby.
