Meaty Festival Takes Over The Cascade Room
For the second year in a row Husband Michael and I attended the Barbarian’s Feast at The Cascade Room, and this time Tess knew better that not to miss it as well. There was so much food that I didn’t even get to try half of the offerings, and it was my cheat meal for the week, so I wasn’t holding back.
It started with a tasting of legendary whiskies, Old Forester, Woodford Reserve and Jack Daniel’, a trip along the American Whiskey Trail and then the meat was unveiled and the feasting began.
A 120 pound whole roasted pig from Gelderman Farms in Abbotsford was on offer as well as a ton of Two Rivers Specialty Meats, including sausages, roast beef, turkey wings, game hens, and pork ribs. Barbarians cannot live by meat alone — try as they might — so satisfying sides were be served up, including potato salad, luscious greens and grilled corn on the cob. The finale was the chocolate chip cookies hot from the over.
Brews from the Main Street Brewings’ Brew Master, Jack Bensley were served and the Cascade Rooms bar team mixed up many a whisky cocktail.
