CAMRA’s HARVEST CASK FESTIVAL CELEBRATE WITH CRAFT BEER AND GOOD CHEER!

The 2012 Beer Awards and CAMRA’s Harvest Cask Festival, which celebrates only the very best of locally-produced craft beer, was held this weekend (Saturday, October 13th, 2012) at Chapel Arts (304 Dunlevy Avenue, Vancouver) from 1-7pm.  A signature event of the official British Columbia Craft Beer Month, over 250 guests attended the sold out event to enjoy the award ceremony as well as 24 cask and keg-only craft beers from across British Columbia.  The full list of winners is available now at facebook.com/BCBeerAwards.

The BC Beer Awards presentation was hosted by actor, screenwriter, creative producer, and noted craft beer aficionado Jonathan Lloyd Walker (‘Continuum’), who engaged the audience with a fast-moving and colourful presentation.  Sold out weeks in advance, the event also included CAMRA’s Harvest Cask Festival, as well as a special presentation of the Vanbrewers Harvest Home Brew Contest award winners.

Says BC Beer Awards co-founder Gerry Erith of the event, “We couldn’t be happier with how everything turned out.  This event is unique in Canada in that it showcases craft beer that is available to consumers right here in our own province.  We couldn’t have done this without the passionate and amazing people who work in the brewing industry in BC. Their efforts make this competition possible.  We are so proud.

This year, the festival chose the Greater Vancouver Food Bank as their designated charity.  Attendees of the event collected 135 pounds of food an almost $250.00 in cash donations.

Over 35 breweries and brewpubs from all across the province entered almost 250 different artisan beers for consideration in 12 different categories at the 2012 BC Beer Awards.  The judging, which took place at the Pacific Institute of Culinary Arts on September 29th, took the entire date to complete.
