Get your veggies on March 20, 2014. GLV
BC Veggie Day celebrates the annual springtime arrival of locally grown greenhouse veggies from BC’s 42 Greenhouse Growers located throughout the Lower Mainland. The fresh tomatoes, cucumbers, peppers, lettuce and more are harvested and arrive in stores in time for the first day of spring on Thursday, March 20th.
Join us at the Vancouver Art Gallery north plaza on March 20th from 11am – 2pm for our BC Veggie Day Bash featuring a pop-up greenhouse filled with plants and ‘good’ bugs from the Bug Factory, a farmer’s market, live entertainment by emcee Prevail from Swollen Members and the 7 member Vince Vaccaro Band, a first ever pop-up restaurant by Earls Kitchen + Bar and food trucks Verinicey Pankoras and Mangal Kiss. March 20th will be declared “BC Veggie Day” in a special proclamation at noon. Be listening to 93.7 JRfm and 102.7 THE PEAK for live coverage of the event and chances to win some of our veggielicious prize packages.
Leading up to March 20th, show us how you enjoy fresh, locally grown veggies and you could win a BC Veggie Day Feast at Earls. Take a picture of your favorite veggie dish and upload it to Buy Local Eat Natural’s Facebook page or use #BCveggieday on Twitter or Instagram to be entered into our draw for one of five $100 Earls gift cards.
Earls kitchen + bar is getting in on the fun. They’ve added a brand new Mediterranean Quinoa Salad to their menu which features locally sourced greenhouse cucumbers and will be offering special veggie samplers during the week of March 17th – 21st at their Hornby, Yaletown, North Van and Bridge Park locations. All of the tomatoes in Earls’ sandwiches and burgers come fresh from Windset Farms in Delta, BC. Watch Chef Cam Armstrong talk about how Earls found the best tasting tomato right in our backyard.
