The BCWAS is proud to announce our first event of 2011: a special tasting with winemaker Wade Stark of Ganton & Larsen Prospect Winery! Ganton & Larsen Prospect is a true BC winery, proud to feature only BC grapes in their wines and BC artists on their labels. Okay, the winemaker’s from Ontario, but you can’t have everything!
What is Ganton & Larsen Prospect Winery? The wines pay homage to the Ganton and Larsen families; original and longstanding land-owning partners of the winery. The grapes are sourced from vineyards all across the Okanagan Valley, allowing for diversity, consistency and distinctiveness.
What’s on the labels? Each varietal features a historical place, figure, animal or item from the Okanagan Valley, commemorated by original artwork from local Okanagan artists.
Who is Wade Stark? In 1998, Wade moved to Kelowna from Ontario. He studied under John Simes, the Winemaker for Mission Hill Family Estate, learning the art and magic of crafting fine wine. In 2006, Wade accepted the position of Winemaker at Ganton & Larsen Prospect Winery. With the winery’s first releases in 2007, Prospect Winery gained much attention and was quickly listed as one of the top 20 wineries in Canada by Wine Access magazine. Prospect Winery has become known for offering wines that over-deliver on quality for an affordable price. Wade takes pride in crafting Prospect wines that celebrate the uniqueness of his adopted home: the wines are a tribute to the people, history and geography of the Okanagan Valley. Since its launch in 2007, Prospect Winery continues to win prestigious awards, a reflection of the dedication of its winemaker and of the Valley’s unique terroir.
