Red velvet lovers must try this delicious waffle recipe for brunch that’s milk chocolatey flavour melts in your mouth. These bold red waffles not only make a statement on the plate but will not disappoint when it comes to flavour either.
Serves: 4
Ingredients
• 2 cups all-purpose flour
• 1/4 cup sugar
• 1 tbsp plus 1 tsp baking powder
• 2 tbsp cocoa powder
• 1/2 tsp salt
• 1 3/4 cups buttermilk
• 1/3 cup butter melted and cooled
• 2 large eggs
• 2 tsp vanilla extract
• 1/2 tsp apple cider vinegar
• 2 tbsp red food colouring
Toppings
• Chocolate sauce
• Vanilla ice cream

Method
• In a mixing bowl, whip together the cream cheese and butter using a hand whisk or mixer until smooth. Then carefully add in the sugar, the vanilla and the milk. Beat together until the glaze appears smooth and then set aside.
• In a large bowl, whisk the flour, sugar, baking powder, cocoa and salt and set aside.
• Then in another medium-sized bowl, beat the buttermilk, melted butter, eggs, vanilla and vinegar together to create your buttermilk mixture. Once smooth stir in the red food colouring, then add the buttermilk mixture to the dry ingredients in your large bowl and whisk it all together until smooth.
• Turn on your waffle maker, let it heat up and spray it with nonstick cooking spray. Pour 1 cup of waffle batter onto the grid and close the waffle iron, leaving it to cook for about 3 minutes until the waffle is a deep red colour and crispy.
• Repeat this step with the remaining batter and serve each waffle drizzled in chocolate sauce and a scoop of vanilla ice cream.

If you’re looking for a way to cure your chocolate cravings, it doesn’t get much better or tastier than these super-indulgent chocolate waffles. Not only are they simple to make, but they are bound to go down a treat with everyone – who doesn’t like chocolate after all?
Serves: 5

Ingredients
• 1 ½ cups of all-purpose flour
• 3 teaspoons baking powder
• ½ teaspoon salt
• ½ cup white sugar
• 3 tablespoons unsweetened cocoa powder
• 1 cup milk
• 2 eggs
• 4 tablespoons butter, melted
• 1 tablespoon butter, softened
• ¾ cup sugar
• ½ teaspoon vanilla extract
• 1 teaspoon milk
Method
• Start by heating up your waffle iron, then in a large bowl, mix together the flour, baking powder, salt, sugar and cocoa. Next add in the milk, eggs and butter into the bowl and stir until a smooth mixture is created.
• To make the vanilla sauce, stir together the softened butter, sugar, vanilla extract and milk until you get a thick slightly stiff consistency.
• Spray a non-stick cooking spray onto the plates of the waffle iron and pour the mixture onto the hot waffle iron.
• Cook until the waffles are golden brown and slightly crispy on the outside and serve with the vanilla sauce.

This colourful brunch dish is the perfect way to brighten someone’s day! If you’re wanting to get creative and create a work of art on your plate, this rainbow waffle recipe is a great place to start.

Serves: 3
Ingredients
• 4 cups of Bisquick
• 2 cups of milk
• 4 eggs
• 2 tbsp granulated sugar
• 1 tsp pure vanilla extract
• Red, orange, yellow, green, blue and purple food colouring
• Whipped cream, for serving

Method
• In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the Bisquick, milk, eggs, sugar, and vanilla until a batter forms.
• Next, divide the batter into 6 equal amounts in different bowls, and use the food colouring to dye each bowl of batter a different colour of the rainbow.
• Then transfer each dyed batter into a piping bag ready to create your layers of the rainbow.
• Preheat your waffle maker, spray with cooking spray and start piping a large red circle on the waffle plate. Immediately follow this with an orange circle inside, then repeat with yellow, green blue and purple.
• Close the waffle maker and cook until set, then carefully remove the waffle from the waffle maker and repeat with the remaining batter.
• Cut the waffle in half so that you have two semi-circles that look like a rainbow and serve with whipped cream.

Just when you thought you couldn’t beat a good banana bread…banana bread waffles come along. This sweet treat is a great brunch recipe to try and it even gets in one of your 5-a-day – bonus!
Serves: 3-4
Ingredients
• 1/2 cup butter
• 1 cup sugar
• 2 eggs
• 3 or 4 mashed, ripe bananas
• 2 cups flour
• 1 teaspoon baking soda
• 1/2 teaspoon salt
• 1/2 cup milk
• 3/4 cup chopped nuts (optional)
Method
• Start by combining all of the ingredients into a large bowl and mix to make your banana bread waffle batter.
• Heat up your waffle maker and spray the plates with cooking spray. Next, pour half a cup of batter (enough to make one waffle) into the waffle plate and cook until set and crispy on the outside. Once cooked, remove and repeat with the remaining batter until all waffles are made.
• Serve with a drizzle of maple syrup and some freshly chopped banana on top.

Serves 5
Ingredients
• 4 large eggs, separated
• 300g plain flour
• ½ tsp bicarbonate of soda
• Pinch of paprika
• ¼ tsp mustard powder
• ¼ small bunch of chives, chopped
• 200g cheddar cheese, grated
• 50g butter, melted
• 400ml semi-skimmed milk

Method
• Start by preheating your waffle maker, then in a bowl whisk the egg whites into stiff peaks.
• In another large bowl, add in the flour, bicarbonate, paprika, mustard powder, chives, salt, black pepper and mix together. Nest stir in the grated cheese and create a well in the centre, and add in the egg yolks and melted butter.
• Whisk together and slowly add in the milk until a smooth, thick batter forms, then carefully fold in the egg whites with a spoon.
• Heat the oven to 180C and pour some of the batter into your waffle maker and cook for 5 mins until crispy on the outside.
• Repeat this step until all the remaining batter has been used up.
• Serve up with your choice of savoury breakfast accompaniments from eggs and bacon to smoked salmon or even avocado.
