Sunday Brunch is always a bit of a hit and miss. I love Cafe Medina, but its always lined up and have had some great food at Campagnolo’s morning menu, but sometimes its more about convenience – meeting up with friends, catching up and finding somewhere all will be reasonably satisfied. Our friends Nina and Kam live in Yaletown and suggested meeting at the Hurricane Grill. This spot had been a sports bar, a higher end establishment, Bardot, and is now back to sports bar. The Sunday football game was on, pleasing Casey, the view of the harbour pleased me, and the food was descent. Hey, I did wish the sausages were house-made or from Oyama, the coffee that from Ethical Bean and the eggs free range, but apart from the vegetables in the Hurricane scrambler needing to be sliced into somewhat smaller pieces, there was a general consensus that they’d done quite well. I liked the dill in the Hollandaise Sauce and the eggs were poached just as I requested. Prices are good, there’s some good dog and people watching, and the games always on (if that’s your thing). We won’t rush back, as we’ve got plenty of other places on our brunch list, but this is somewhere that will see us again.
