Burnaby’s Hart House Restaurant will be serving up top-quality local seafood for its new Ocean Fest dinner special. Until Sunday, April 25 2010, guests at the landmark heritage house restaurant can enjoy a 3-course menu featuring fresh Salt Spring Island mussels and first-of-the-season Pacific Halibut for just $38.
A love of seafood comes naturally to Executive Chef Kris Kabush, who was born and raised in Surrey, BC. He chose to make cooking his career at the tender age of sixteen. Apprenticeships at the Wedgewood and the Four Seasons Hotel gave him practical experience that complemented the classroom knowledge he gained in Vancouver Community College’s Red Seal culinary program. Before joining the team at Hart House, he worked at Cioppino’s, the Four Seasons, the Wedgewood, and Lumière. Kris took special pleasure in designing the Ocean Fest menu, as it gave him a chance to capitalize on the bounty of fresh seafood that’s available locally.
Guests will enjoy the Ocean Fest dinner special in the elegant surroundings of Hart House’s dining room, where friendly staff are always happy to suggest wine pairings for any dish.
