October 1, 2011 AIDS Vancouver will host the Fourth Annual Celebrity Dim Sum Event ~ a unique Dim Sum experience where members of the community have the opportunity to mingle with Vancouver’s local celebrities, while enjoying authentic Dim Sum. All proceeds from this event will help support AIDS Vancouver’s – Asian Community Outreach Project.
The AIDS Vancouver Asian Outreach Project serves Asian people with substance use issues, with HIV or at risk of infection in the DTES and Vancouver’s Downtown. The project supports the development of skills, knowledge and resources to increase self efficacy to respond to the community’s changing needs. The project also serves to facilitate access to appropriate services and supports. Goals of this project are to reduce the spread of HIV within the Asian community and support persons living with HIV/AIDS to improve their health and quality of life
Brian Chittock, AIDS Vancouver’s Executive Director states that “AIDS Vancouver believes that it was vitally important to expand our current programs and services to include the Asian Community Outreach Project in consideration of how few services are being provided to those at-risk within Vancouver’s Asian communities.”
