Holiday Traditions on Granville Island
Genuine Christmas traditions can be hard to find in a young, multicultural city like Vancouver, but for years, Granville Island and the Dockside Restaurant at the Granville Island Hotel have been filling the Holiday Season with events that are packed with seasonal cheer.
On Christmas Eve and Christmas Day, the Dockside Restaurant celebrates two great festive traditions with Christmas Dinner on the 24th and 25th and Vancouver’s best Christmas Day Brunch from 10am – 3pm on the big day. Whether it’s a large family group looking for a place to celebrate together or a break from the other Christmas traditions of hours of cooking and post-dinner cleanup, Chef Jeff Batt’s three-course table d’hôte menu is a traditional Christmas feast in a unique setting.
Those who are looking for a delicious Christmas dinner without spending hours in the kitchen need look not further than the Dockside Brewery and Restaurant’s be, offered from 5-8:30pm on both Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. Chef Jeff Batt has taken classic Christmas dishes and elevated them with carefully preparation and flair. With traditional entrée choices of turkey or ham alongside an Oceanwise salmon option, everyone will find something to their liking. Dinner is $44.95 per person and reservations are required.
Many have made Christmas Day Brunch at Dockside has become one of the signature days of the year at the Dockside Restaurant. It’s a great way to enjoy the day with family or friends after opening gifts. A packed house is expected again for this festive tradition which combines a full buffet featuring a mouthwatering range of homemade baked goods, salads, entrées, fresh made omelettes and Belgian waffles along with desserts. The buffet is served 10am-3pm and costs $49.95 per person or $19.95 for kids. Again, reservations are required for this great tradition.
For over 20 years, New Year’s Eve at the Granville Island Hotel has been one of the events of the year. During that time, the view over to the city and Yaletown has changed but the party has gone on. Again this year, the Cityscapes New Year’s Eve celebration includes multiple rooms of entertainment, multiple dining options and packages that include rooms for the ultimate getaway in the City.
