On Saturday August 10th and Sunday August 11th the 3rd annual Comox Valley Farm Cycle Tour showcases 33 farms out of the 425 plus in the area and is serviced by over 3o volunteers. We did a brief tour of the area with Island Joy Rides in July and got a glimpse of what cyclists will enjoy. The area is perfect for cycling! Check that article out here.
The August weekend tour starts at the Farmers Market and there are four routes.
Saturday:
Black Road Bliss – a moderate cycling itinerary heading north with farms open from 9 am -4 pm
Rural Ramble – a shorter ride visiting farms in the Dove Creek area open with farms open from 10 am – 2pm
Comox Peninsula – a moderate cycling itinerary along the Estuary and through Comox Peninsula with farms open from 9 am – 4 pm
Sunday
Bayviews – a moderate route visiting farms from Royston to Fanny Bay with views of the Strait of Georgia
The farms range from berry to dairy farms, wine tastings to heritage vegetables, sprouts to oysters, and the Comox Valley Farmers Market. There will be tastings and entertainment along the way and don’t forget to come early and check out the Farmers Market and fuel up for the trip.
Check out Natures Way Farm and take the time to smell the blueberries and sample the Blue Moon Wines.
Some of the farms at the farmers market vendors are part of the tour. We checked out the Wednesday Comox Valley Farmers Market, but Saturday is much busier with many more vendors.
