The Cupcake Throwdown has hosted bakers going head to head, vying for cupcake supremacy since 2009. All the while raising much needed funds for H.A.V.E. Culinary Training Society. For those attending the event it is a chance to help out an organization providing much needed support in the DTES, one cupcake at a time.
The mission of the Cupcake Throwdown is to bring community together through culinary adventures and to provide exposure to a program that has changed many lives and been a positive force in the lives of the people of the Vancouver Downtown Eastside.
Each baker will bring 100 cupcake samples. Bakers include Vancouver culinary pros and avid home bakers. For just $10 entry fee you’ll receive 5 tasting tickets. Additional tickets for $1. They then vote for their favourites by ballot. The evening ends with prizes for the Supreme Cupcake Champs and a raffle of a Kitchen Aid stand mixer for guests.
The 3rd Annual Cupcake Throwdown: Bakers Vying for Cupcake Supremacy takes place at Chapel Arts, 7pm to 10pm, February 16. Tickets are $10 and include 5 tasting tix. Proceeds benefit DTES non-profitH.A.V.E. Culinary Training Society.
