From Tourism BC….
Summer’s setting sun signals an end to barbeques and beach blankets. It also marks a metamorphosis designed for a painter’s canvas: autumn provides a proverbial showcase of lush greens and crimson reds mingling with vibrant slashes of yellows and oranges warmed by the blush of copper. Where to find such foliage? Circle around in the province’s South Cariboo. Here, a three- to five-day, 200-kilometre loop, Fall Colours Circle Drive of autumn landscapes presents more than a few highlights: stops in former Gold Rush towns; bird watching in secluded marshes; sites explored in the saddle; fly fishing along the famed Fishing Highway (a stretch of road named for its ample stock of scaled catches); and tours of select trails within Wells Gray Provincial Park’s vast expanse will entice. A logical start: 100 Mile House, south of Williams Lake. Here, you can check out an original BX stage coach before heading southeast through vast forest and lake country; quaint communities (including Lone Butte and Forest Grove), height-defying sights at Canim, Mahood and Deception falls and a kaleidoscope of colour at Green Lake Provincial Park await. And should you choose to switch off the engine, charming bed and breakfasts, cool ranches and fishing lodges are sure to provide an ideal home away from home. www.landwithoutlimits.com/Travel_Industry/Media_Centre/Whats_New
