Shopping for someone whose weekends revolve around qualifying sessions and Grand Prix results? The Glenfiddich Aston Martin 16 Year Old Release No. 2 brings a motorsport connection to the holiday drinks shelf, with a B.C. retail listing at Victoria’s Vessel Liquor.
The 2026 limited-edition single malt is the second annual release from Glenfiddich’s partnership with the Aston Martin Formula One Team. For whisky drinkers, the detail worth exploring is its combination of five cask types.
Five cask influences in one single malt
Glenfiddich malt master Brian Kinsman brings together whisky influenced by first-fill bourbon barrels, Port pipes, Oloroso sherry casks and wine casks, with a final touch from Fino sherry butts. The 16-year-old whisky is bottled at 43 per cent alcohol.
The partnership draws a parallel between Kinsman’s decisions about maturation and blending and Aston Martin designer Adrian Newey’s work with aerodynamics. You can read more about the release in Aston Martin’s announcement.
What does Glenfiddich Aston Martin Release No. 2 taste like?
A silky, fruit-forward whisky with layers of sweetness, spice and drying oak. Stewed apple, plum and dried fruit mingle with floral aromas and hints of marzipan. On the palate, buttery toffee and caramelized sugar meet brighter orchard and tropical fruit, with a subtle saline edge adding contrast. Gentle wood spice and oak tannins balance the sweetness through a long finish.

Glenfiddich Manhattan
For a holiday cocktail, Glenfiddich suggests this Manhattan variation made with its 16 Year Old Aston Martin Limited Edition. Sweet vermouth and aromatic bitters complement the whisky, with an orange twist to finish.
