Gray Monk Estate Winery was planted by George and Trudy Heiss way back in 1972! They are proud to call themselves BC’s oldest family-owned winery, and we are very happy to have them visit us to share some of their history – and their wines – with us. Recently, Gray Monk’s Heiss family celebrated a remarkable triple anniversary: 30 years since the establishment of the winery, 40 years of grape growing, and 50 years of marriage. It just goes to show you – everything does go better with wine!
The BCWAS is honoured to host Steven Heiss, son of George and Trudy. Steven has worked in all areas of Gray Monk for over 19 years, including the vineyards, cellars, administration, and sales. His work has helped the winery grow to its current production of 80,000 cases. That’s a lot of wine!
