On Friday, September 24 the winemakers from two of the top wineries in BC will be at Hastings House for a winemaker’s dinner. Gustav Allander from Foxtrot Vineyards and Ian Sutherland from Poplar Grove, both located on the Naramata Bench, will be joining us for a memorable evening pairing their award winning wines with Marcel’s beautiful food. Both the 2007 Foxtrot Pinot Noir and the 2007 Poplar Grove Syrah were awarded Leiutenant Govenor’s Awards of Excellence this summer. 

The line up for the dinner includes from Poplar Grove, the 2008 Pinot Gris, 2007 Syrah and 2006 Legacy. From Foxtrot Vineyards, the 2009 Chardonnay and the 2007 Pinot Noir. A five course meal featuring local veggies, Salt Spring Lamb, Poplar Grove, Moonstruck and Saltspring Cheeses with wine pairings, gratuities and taxes included for an advance ticket price of $150.00 per person. This event should be of interest to Vancouver and Victoria area foodies as well as SSIslanders.

This special Friday night event will be the kick off for our Friday Night Wine and Cheese tasting events happening every Friday in October. Fridays at 5pm, we will be opening up our cellar and pouring some of our collection of great wines from BC and around the world, paired with complimentary cheeses in an exploration of flavours. Each week we will have a specific focus on grape varietals and regions, in a sit down tasting format, creating a unique and fun opportunity to taste and learn with wine professionals. The price will be $25 per person, with a special price of $15 for those who book for dinner that night as well. We are very excited to share some of our fabulous wines from our cellar.
