Homer Street Cafe Brunch

There’s nothing better than a cozy restaurant filled with aromas of fresh coffee and bacon on a weekend morning; or any morning for that matter. If you’re looking for such comforts look no further than Homer Street Cafe at Homer and Smithe Street, just on the edge of Yaletown. Here you’ll find a giant rotisserie ovens roasting up slabs of pork belly and sausages for weekend brunches and juicy chickens at lunch and dinner.

Speaking of chicken, you’ll want to start your breakfast with a “Chicken Mary”. Instead of serving the so very overdone bacon infused vodka Caesar (which, by the way, Homer Street Cafe’s bartender JS Dupuis was already doing last decade), this place infuses vodka with chicken and adds a splash of bourbon and tomato juice.  Equally tasty is the “Port of Mumbai” with IPA beer, bombay sapphire, aperol, grapefruit, and lavender honey. Drinks for breaky are always a weekend must.

Sweet fans will love the nutella and banana monte cristo, but we’re into the savoury to start the day so went for their version of surf and turf, a delightful baked steelhead trout, beef brisket, and poached egg and the rotisserie special heavy on the pork including pork sausage and pork belly 2 eggs, potatoes, choice of rye or sourdough.

There’s yoghurt, fresh fruit, granola and sides of toast should your appetite not be quite awake at brunch, but once the meaty aromas in the room hit you that’s bound to change.
