Getting Pretty With Joanna Keller Beautique – Lash Extensions and Make-Up

I am somewhat challenged when it comes beauty; firstly I have that great hair for the 80’s, super curly, but not so easy to smooth out, secondly I am hardly youthful these days, and thirdly, I am pretty hopeless as doing anything on my own. Perhaps in 2018 I’ll take a course or two, or watch some you-tube videos, but in the meantime I need to outsource some serious help. For my latest TV appearance on Global TV (I talked about tech in the kitchen – more here) I hooked up with Joanna Keller Beautique, and got my lashes and make-up professionally done, and was so pleased with the results.

The Beautique is tucked away on East Pender, and walking in alone makes you feel all pretty. The interior is all pretty in pink with rose gold lighting, a pink couch and fluffy blue chairs in the waiting area, and super comfy faux fur-covered beds to sprawl comfortably on while your lashes get done. When I got there, my technician, Tatiana, told me would take a couple hours and freaked out as I can’t sit still for that long, but once I crawled onto the bed and relaxed a bit, time flew by, and the music playing helped, and I was done without losing it! In fact, I emerged rather relaxed.

The results were fantastic, and since then I’ve scheduled a fill and I’m not giving these babies up as I wake up looking prettier without layering on any mascara. They are also comfortable. A few years back I had my lashes done and they were so annoying I picked most of them off. Above is me with just the lashes on, and a little of my own make-up. (Hair by Rush Hair Salon – Stacy).

The next day I had an appearance on Global TV, so I went in to get studio ready and had my make up done again by Tatiana. Make up gets done in the studio in the back, again with relaxing tunes and again, I emerged feeling relaxed and ready to put my face forward. I have no idea what goes on with all those brushes, foundation, contouring cream, etc., but I do know when I look my best and was very pleased with this outcome. If only I had her on staff! Now wouldn’t that be nice if someone did your make up everyday?? The beautique also does hair and microblading, I’ll be back to look into that as I need  a touch up on my brows.

The Beautique owner, Joanna Keller Joanna Keller has been working in the beauty industry since 2008. She began her career as a makeup artist / hair stylist after attending Blanche Macdonald. She worked with many different makeup lines during her first year, gaining a large knowledge of beauty brands and products. A makeup client of Joanna’s that had just returned from Korea and brought the new eyelash-extension trend to her attention. “She was rocking a more natural looking version of individual cluster lashes but said they lasted up to 6 weeks and that they were super comfortable and glued to her eyelashes not her skin. I was intrigued and the rest is history.”
