KNIFEWEAR RETURNS: THE WORLD’S SHARPEST POP-UP TO VANCOUVER

CANADA’S FINEST HIGH PERFORMANCE JAPANESE KITCHEN KNIVES

Here to throw a match into traditional retail Kevin Kent, Founder of Canadian culinary knife importer Knifewear introduces top quality hand crafted Japanese knives to Vancouver on their second West Coast Tour. The pop-up shop will run July 27 – Aug 2, hosted by @thisopenspace located at 434 Columbia St. The shop will feature new knives to be seen, tested and taken home for life

Kent welcomes you to shop handmade knives, blacksmith prototypes, one of-a-kind knives alongside Canadian-made cutting boards, chef curated cookbooks, sharpening stones, chef gadgets, straight razors and axes. Just for the pop-up Fujimoto knives will be 15% off.

Kent draws a comparison, “Cooking is rock ‘n’ roll, and we supply the leather pants of rock ‘n’ roll, which are Japanese kitchen knives.”

Meet the motley Knifewear crew of rehabilitated chefs, food lovers and knife nerds here to share wisdom on knife care, sharpening and the artful history of knives manufactured by generations of craftsmen. Take your cooking to the next level with Knifewear.

ABOUT KNIFEWEAR

Knifewear opened its first shop in Calgary in 2007. Today, the chef-owned Canadian retail success story has five stores across the country and Kent is no longer selling knives out of a backpack from his bicycle. The knives are designed for precision and to be passed down with the same lasting power as the historical processes in which they’re made.

ABOUT KEVIN KENT

Storeowner Kevin Kent honed his culinary skills working as a chef at top restaurants in Europe and Canada, including Fergus Henderson’s legendary St. John restaurant in London, England and Rive Café in Calgary. Kent’s fascination with Japanese knives began when he was working as a sous-chef in England and met a Japanese blacksmith who opened up a whole new world for him – recalling the day he found out what razor sharp really meant. On and offline he self-identifies as a ‘knife nerd’ and is the Executive Producer of Springhammer the documentary. Also the founder of Kent of Inglewood ‘Canada’s shave shop,’ another charming and slightly badass enterprise he’s spearheaded.
