Global Brand Ambassador for Grant’s Blended Scotch Whisky Shares Passion and Knowledge
Ludo Ducrocq, Global Brand Ambassador for Grant’s Blended Scotch Whisky, visits Vancouver July 6 and 7. William Grant & Sons Ltd., independent family distillers since 1887, is the number-one selling Scotch whisky in Canada.
Ducrocq, Grant’s first global ambassador, comes to Vancouver to share the exceptional Grant’s blend with a new generation of whisky drinkers. He follows in the footsteps of Charles Gordon, William Grant’s son-in-law who, in 1909, embarked on an epic 12-month journey in which he introduced Grant’s to Australia and the Far East.
William Grant & Sons Ltd. is one of the world’s leading Scotch whisky distillers and has been crafting Grant’s Blended Scotch whisky, the world’s fourth-largest Scotch whisky brand, for more than 100 years. Grant’s Family Reserve —which sells four million cases in 180 countries worldwide—along with Ale Cask Reserve and Sherry Cask Reserves, appeals to a wide variety of tastes.
In the last three years alone, the innovative company has garnered more than 50 awards and medals, including the gold medal at the prestigious 2009 International Wine & Spirits Competition (WSC) and the Distiller of the Year award from the 2008 and 2009 International Spirits Challenge.
Founded by William Grant in Duffton, Speyside in the Highlands of Scotland, Grant built the Glenfiddich Distillery in 1886. On Christmas Day, 1887, the first drop of spirit was produced. Grant’s determination has proven to be an enduring legacy to his descendants who, five generations later, continue to run the company, share his passion and adhere to his high standards of quality and craftsmanship.
Originally from France, Ducrocq graduated from the University of Lille and began his career in the whisky industry in 2000, when he accepted the position of Tour Guide at the Glenfiddich Distillery Visitor Centre, in Dufftown, Scotland. Relating to the passion and commitment of Glenfiddich’s owners, the Grant family, Ducrocq invested personal time in learning the century-old skills required for malt-whisky production. He moved into an old excise house metres away from Glenfiddich and set out to learn from the distillery’s team of coopers, coppersmiths, distillers, malt masters and other experienced craftsmen.
In 2009, Ducrocq was promoted to a Global Ambassador and began traveling around the world, sharing his knowledge and skills with journalists, mixologists and whisky enthusiasts alike. Ducrocq documents his travels in a blog: blog.grantswhisky.com
