Marquis Wine Cellars & Chambar Restaurant Present a Once in a Lifetime Wine Dinner with Château Léoville-Las Cases, Bordeaux –
Marquis Wine Cellars and Chambar Restaurant have partnered for a once in a lifetime tasting experience. On Wednesday, May 4th 2011, seven different vintages from Château Léoville-Las Cases (Saint-Julien, Bordeaux) will be paired with delicious dishes from Chef Nico Schuermans of Chambar.
Château Léoville-Las Cases is widely considered one of the finest estates in all of Bordeaux and is a Deuxième Cru (Second Growth) classification. If ever a reclassification takes place, this Château would merit and receive serious support for First Growth status, placing them among wineries such as Château Margaux, Château Latour and Château Lafite-Rothschild. The wines of Léoville-Las Cases are created for long-term cellaring, and are heavily Cabernet Sauvignon weighted.
The evening will begin with a Champagne reception progressing to a sit-down four course meal. The menu has been specially created to pair with the 1978, 1985, 1988, 1994, 1996, 2000 and 2003 vintages. With dessert, a 2006 Château Rieussec Sauternes will be poured.
Among some of the great vintages being poured at the dinner is the perfect scoring 2000 Leoville-Las Case, which garnered 100 points by Wine Spectator Magazine, who called it “Absolutely fantastic.” All of the other wines planned for the dinner are 90+ scoring wines with wine industry notables such as Robert Parker or Stephen Tanzer.
Jon Ellison of MWC says “This kind of top caliber wine dinner is a rare event in Vancouver, and is expected to sell out quickly once the word gets out. Interested wine lovers should move quickly to be certain they get a ticket.”
