On July 1, visit Granville Island and wave a flag for your country! Granville Island celebrates its 30th Anniversary this Canada Day as well – so there are plenty of good reasons to make a beeline for Vancouver’s beloved cultural attraction! With free jazz performances, courtesy of the Coastal Jazz and Blues Society, roving performers, face painting, tattoos, and myriad activities, Granville Island is the place to be to celebrate our nation’s birthday! The 10th Annual Canada Day Parade promises to delight and entertains as it overflows with Canadians eager to show their patriotism. National and international activities and performers will be on hand to celebrate Canada’s cultural diversity, and of course, a smorgasbord of British Columbian artists and artisans will be on site, showcasing the province’s artistic culture.
Kick-off the festivities with The Truly Canadian Pancake Breakfast from 7:30 am – 11 am at Dockside Restaurant. Enjoy tasty Canadian favourites like crispy bacon, fluffy pancakes, and real maple syrup – with $1 from every meal going to Canuck Place. Later, get your paws on some claws! From 11 am-midnight, Bridges Restaurant is offering fresh, barbequed Lobsters, best enjoyed on the seaside Bridges patio. In addition, restaurants, cafes and vendors throughout the Island will be offering special treats and savings in honour of the big day.
Don’t miss the bus! Talk about true North strong and FREE! Catch a special Canada Day one-hour performance of The Number 14! Limited tickets are available on a first-come, first-served basis at the Waterfront Theatre, July 1, 10:00 am – 2:30 pm. Show begins at 2:30 pm.
