ROGERS’ CHOCOLATES AND YVR TEAM UP FOR SWEET 125th ANNIVERSARY CELEBRATION

The storied history of Canada’s premier chocolatier will be front and centre for thousands of visitors and locals who travel through Vancouver International Airport starting Friday, November 5th. In celebration of its 125th anniversary, Rogers’ Chocolates’ new traveling exhibit will be on display at YVR for three months – delighting all who enter the larger-than-life historical tribute.

“This is an incredibly special year for us at Rogers’ Chocolates and we wanted to share it with all of our biggest supporters – from across Canada to the more than 50 countries that we ship to around the world,” says Rogers’ Chocolates President and CEO Steve Parkhill. “The exhibit entices all of your senses. Travelers through YVR won’t be able to resist checking it out.”

The exhibit is designed by Calgary’s Studio Y Creations, which has designed and built displays for Cirque du Soleil and Universal Studios, among others. The installation at YVR provides an in-depth look at the history of Canada’s premier chocolatier, including real artifacts such as copper pots, ladles and a candy scale once used by Charles Rogers more than 100 years ago. Chocolate-smelling machines and touch screen monitors showcasing the wide variety of Rogers’ products will have mouths watering.

Canada’s first chocolatier, Charles “Candy” Rogers, began making chocolates in 1885 in the back of his grocery shop in Victoria, BC.  Today, Rogers’ Chocolates is a local institution that continues to satisfy the sweet tooth of millions every year through its fine chocolate products – still hand-wrapped – and now sold in retail locations across the country.

As part of its 125th anniversary celebrations Rogers’ Chocolates has unveiled a whole host of sweet treats for chocolate lovers across the country, including a new Ice Wine Truffle featuring BC’s own Prospect Winery Ice Wine, a new line of organic chocolates, and an Artisan Chocolate Line crafted by Rogers’ own Master Chocolatier Cornell Idu.

Rogers’ has also launched its new website www.rogerschocolates.com — debuting its unique “Build-A-Box” function that allows guests to design customized boxes of chocolates and have them shipped directly more than 50 countries around the world.

Today, Rogers’ Chocolates is owned by a small group of shareholders located primarily in BC. The company now has seven retail stores, several hundred wholesale outlets, and a 20,000 square foot factory.
