Tomato Provencal, Thai Curry or Vindaloo. Whatever you’re craving, The Sandbar has mussels covered. Starting today, the new Beer & Barnacles! kicks off at the famous Granville Island eatery, the stimulating variety of mussel dishes will now be a regular staple on the menu.
Executive Chef Jason Kleinfeld says, “There’s no question in my mind that we have the best mussels in the city. Not only do we get the plump Gallo mussels delivered fresh daily from the pristine waters off Cortes Island, BC, we’ve created three mussel dishes that seriously kick butt. We’ve kept each recipe simple and fresh with enough distinction between all three to give our guests a nice variety. Watch out Chambar, we’re taking over mussels in Vancouver!”
Exclusive to The Sandbar’s Beer & Barnacles! promotion is a partnership with another Granville Island resident, Granville Island Brewery (GIB). For $10 from 4-7 pm Sandbar diners can enjoy a pound of mussels and their choice along with a pint of GIB’s Lager, Honey Lager or Winter Ale. “It’s a match made in heaven,” says Kleinfeld.
The Sandbar is a 300-seat fresh seafood and fish restaurant in the heart of Granville Island. Perched over the waterfront with views from every seat; guests can enjoy the bustle of the market, the non-stop energy of False Creek and the shores of Vancouver’s West End. The menu is chock-full of freshly landed local catch including wild salmon, Dungeness crab, prawns, clams and of course… lots of mussels.
