Today’s visit to the freshly opened Tractor at 1903 West 4th Avenue in Kitsilano provided a much needed break from the meat-centric day I had yesterday at Brewery and the Beast, a massive beer and meatfest. Not that Tractor doesn’t serve meat, as in fact it does have both a wicked beef stew and beef short rib sandwich, but along with these offerings, and what is the real star of this show is, is their vast array of fresh salads all laid out before your eyes ready to be scooped up and served within an instant. The premise of Tractor is fresh,…

At lunch the list of panini is endless with options such as Proscuitto and with Fontina, Radiccio and Grilled Vegetables and there are a multitude of fresh pastas including their amazing house-made Lasagne. For dinner you’ll want to order up some Antipasti and try the Ravioli or perhaps the delightful Beef Tenderloin, but either meal do not…
Right in the heart of Kitsilano Fable Restaurant delivers fresh, local food with flair. Chef Trevor Bird and front of house partners Kathy Shleyer and Ron MacGillivray are genuinely invested in their concept of farm to table cuisine. After a near win on Season 2 of Top Chef Canada, Vancouver fortunately seduced Chef Bird and he promptly found an appropriate location in Kitsilano at 1944 West 4th Avenue. The room is comfortable and inviting with exposed brick walls, wood beams and a bar with views into the kitchen. Lunch is a casual affair with fresh sandwiches, soups and salads,…

Fresh off their win for Best French Casual at the 24th annual Vancouver Restaurant Awards, Tableau celebrated with a little cocktail party with lots of fresh seafood and some of the seasons first BC Spot Prawns. Degan Walters and Sophia Cheng particularly liked the prawns boiled up simply by Chef Marc-Andre Choquette. Plates of antipasto, grilled Asparagus and plenty of other snacks. Oysters on the half shell freshly shucked and lots of great wine, cocktails and beer completed the evening.
The crazy boys over at VANEATS.ca have connected again with Suika Snackbar to bring us a $35 tasting experience complete with cocktails. I absolutely love eating here. The room is always full and full of action, there’s bound to be a birthday party which means the staff perform a birthday song with all the theatrics, and the food is divine. I sit at the bar with views into the kitchen and of the entire room which just reeks of a good time! Suika means watermelon so when faced with the decision on the Magical Mojito Pitcher that comes with the package we…
Written By Vincenzo D’Antonio Gorgonzola is one of the most renowned Italian cheeses in the world. It is a blue veined DOP cheese produced exclusively in Italy from whole cow milk. As it often happens for many specialties of the traditional Italian cuisine, its origins are halfway between legend and reality. According to the historians, the first Gorgonzola ever to be produced dates back somewhere between the 9th and the 12th century in a small village nearby Milan called Gorgonzola; this cheese was then named after this same village. Back then, people did not use to pay much attention to the classification of…
