C’s WATER FILM FEST FLOWS…
On Thursday, May 19th, the C Blue Film Festival unspools at the Vancity Theatre, screening the short-listed entries to the The C Blue Film Competition. Entrants were asked to create a short film on the subject of water; “lo-fi” productions were encouraged. Content was key. The winning film will receive $1, 000, donated by realtor and philanthropist Alexis Palkowski.
The short films and filmmakers are:
A Time of Water Bountiful by Michael Ricciardi
- Water Conservation PSA by Tosh Turner and Tim Addison
- Frost by Laura Margaret Ramsey and Riley Stewart
- The Slough by Susan Gordon
- Okeover Oysters by Alex Turner and Darwyn Moffatt-Mollett
- OceanGybe by Andrew Naysmith
The screening will be hosted by Breakfast Television’s Dawn Chubai and C Blue board member Mike Watson. The evening will be followed by a luxe cocktail and canapé reception featuring tasty seafood bites by Chefs Robert Clark and Lee Humphries.
The competition and festival evening is a grassroots initiative by the C Blue Foundation, C’s new organization dedicated to all water: lakes, rivers, streams, oceans and glaciers. The blue movement begins.
“This film night is a maiden voyage of sorts for our new foundation,” says C proprietor Harry Kambolis, “We wanted to do something with cool factor, so a film competition and screening sounded fun.”
“We are thrilled that the foundation chose the Vancity Theatre as the venue for their event,” says Barbara Chirinos, special events co-ordinator for VIFF. “The evening has the makings of an exciting and delicious affair.”
