Finally made it to Vancouver Foodster Tasting Plates as I’d missed the last few due various annoying occurrences. While the weather didn’t cooperate and I ended up with rather wet feet, I still managed to enjoy a night roaming the North Shore with some transportation assistance from Jay Minter and Billy Hur when it came to traipsing up to the upper parts of Lonsdale. I boarded that boat they call the sea bus and crossed to the North Shore a without much hassle at all. I am mastering public transportation since we’ve given up the car. Headed to Pier 7 Restaurant where I picked up my event package and enjoyed their tasting plate item.
Pier 7 Restaurant did a tasty compressed melon salad with yuzu on prosciutto carpaccio with a side of fresh scallop ceviche. Have also had a great family brunch here and you can’t argue with the view!
Next would have been Anatoli Souvlaki but as it was packed we opted to move on and then I was too full later to even think about going back. Pretty lame but I am not going to make myself sick in the name of food research! Dianne Chow of Fabulously Frugal provided this photo of Grilled Haloumi Caprese, Avgolemono soup (chicken rice soup with egg and lemon), or Fasolada soup (vegan bean soup), Spanakopita and Houmus + pita.
Unfortunately the same went for Fishworks Restaurants so I missed their Halibut Poutine. Perhaps I should have ran in between restaurants to build up my appetite.
Was super impressed with the layout and food at PlantoPlanto. Healthy and tasty plate filled with smoked tofu caprese salad, beets & feta, wasabi spiced potato salad, and sesame soy corn & quinoa.
The Juicery Co had some refreshing strawberry lemonade on tap, served a vegan raw cocoa acai bowl and some vanilla bean & pear almond milk. I keep meaning to do another juice cleanse…..hmm.
The Little District had some tasty deep fried bites of cod and shrimp fritters with spicy mayo. This room and menu is calling me for a return visit for sure! Sorry that the picture isn’t going to win any food photography awards as it was dark.
Rosemary RockSalt served up some Montreal Smoked Meat on a Rosemary Rocksalt bagel, Lox & Cream Cheese and Sweet Rugelach pastry. Loved these and will be back to the nearer location on Main Street for a full version of the smoked meat bagel
Missed a picture of Two Daughters Bakery, but their Gluten free vegan donuts and Gluten free vegan brownies made an excellent breakfast the next day.
Next up is Tasting Plates West End on September 10, 2014
