Kicking off this series is Shelley Wood, lauded author of The Quintland Sisters, “a gorgeously written novel about miracles, love and resilience” that explores the true story of the Dionne Quintuplets, born in Ontario in 1934.

The only quintuplets known to have survived infancy, the girls were first made wards of the state and then into a tourist attraction by the Ontario government. More than 6,000 people visited the observation gallery each day to view the sisters in their nursery.

Steeped in research, The Quintland Sisters is a novel of love, heartache and enduring sisterhood—a fictional, coming-of-age story bound up in one of the strangest Canadian true tales of the 20th century.

Ticket holders will hear from Wood about the novel, while enjoying Dockside’s Great Canadian Brunch overlooking False Creek, with dishes including:

  • Butter pastries such as danishes, croissants and pain au chocolate;
  • Fresh fruit with seasonal berries;
  • Scrambled (cage free) eggs with chives and aged cheddar cheese;
  • Maple smoked bacon and honey and thyme pork bangers;
  • Roasted herbed Roma tomatoes;
  • Crispy fried potatoes with lemon chili salt;
  • Freshly brewed coffee and assorted teas.

Each guest will take home flowers, generously donated by Our Little Flower Company.

Limited tickets available. Books will be available to purchase at the event.
