Peninsula Community Foundation Announces 22nd Vintage Affair Fundraising Gala presented by Envision Financial
“Love Your Community” wine tasting cocktail event to raise funds for South Surrey and White Rock family needs
Peninsula Community Foundation is hosting the 22nd Vintage Affair presented by Envision Financial fundraiser on Thursday, October 23rd at the Hazelmere Golf and Country Club. Guests will enjoy a curated selection of wines from local vintners paired with creative appetizers, a live DJ, and an exciting silent auction with items from prestigious South Surrey and White Rock boutiques.
The soiree will be MC’d by B.C.’s favourite weather man, Mark Madryga, a South Surrey resident. Evening draws include a climate-controlled wine cabinet filled with 100 bottles of wine and a $2,000 cash prize.
Proceeds from ticket sales of this formal cocktail event will benefit KidSport Surrey, Semiahmoo House Society and Sources Food Bank Resource Centre.
“This year marks a significant milestone for Vintage Affair as we explore new opportunities with organizations that customize programs to meet the specific needs of Peninsula-based families,” said Curtis Christopherson, president of the Foundation’s board and event organizer.
Returning for a third year as presenting sponsor, Envision Financial is pleased that Peninsula Community Foundation has included Sources Food Bank Resource Centre as a benefactor of Vintage Affair. The food bank is a community partner with Envision Financial’s new signature program, The Full Cupboard. The Full Cupboard was created by Envision Financial to raise food, funds and awareness for local food banks. Through this program, Envision Financial has committed to raising $1 million for local food banks over the next 10 years.
“Ensuring that Peninsula families have access to food resources at our local food bank is what The Full Cupboard is all about,” says Harjit Chima, branch manager of Envision Financial’s South Point location. “We’re proud to sponsor the Vintage Affair for a third consecutive year and are excited that Sources Food Bank Resource Centre has been adopted as a community partner for this event in 2014.”
The Foundation will contribute to family-focused initiatives including:
- Organized youth sports programs for low-income families coordinated by KidSport Surrey
- Rec and leisure programs for people with developmental disabilities at Semiahmoo House Society
- Providing local families in need with support through Sources Food Bank Resource Centre
Christopherson hopes that money raised through the sale of 375 tickets and silent auction items will hit $90,000, surpassing last year’s total of $70,000.
