What’s Up In The Wine World This Week

Here’s our round up of what’s on our radar for wine. Good Wine Gal, Barb Wild and I (Cassandra) will curate this weekly list, so feel free to email us with suggestions of what to include. We’ll add to during the week as time permits.

This week’s BC Wine event features Mireille Sauve from Wine Umbrella and Les Dames d’Escoffier Wines that support a great cause – scholarship programs for women in hospitality.

The next BC Wine session is June 24 when we welcome Jay Drysdale and Bella Winery – BC’s most talked about and celebrated Sparkling wine producer from Naramata, BC. We’ll be “Geeking out on Gamay”

Three Sisters Winery Virtual Tasting

With a long family history of farming, a passion for growing and an appreciation of vineyards from around the world John and Liz Lawrence bought acreage along the Naramata Bench and developed the Three Sisters Winery – aptly named after their three daughters. In 2013 they were joined by Matthew Mikulic – a viticulturist and winemaker with training in California, Argentina, Australia, and his home country Croatia.
We are excited to have Matthew join us to taste through some of their exceptional products. We will be opening the following wines: Rosé; Bench Red; Cabernet Franc.

La Frenz Winery Virtual Tasting

We are pleased to have featured La Frenz Winery, recently honoured as the #9 Winery of the Year in 2019 at the InterVin International Wine Awards, as part of our BC Local Heroes campaign in May. Their excellence and commitment to their craft is apparent in all of the wines they produce.  Please join us as we welcome La Frenz winemaker, Dominic McCosker, who will share his commitment to sustainable farming and the experience he has gained having completed more than a dozen vintages at Canadian and Australian premium wineries.

We will be tasting the following wines (typically reserved for restaurants) from La Frenz:  2018 Semillon Knorr Vineyard; 2018 Sauvignon Blanc Wits End Vineyard; 2017 Reserve Pinot Noir.
