This week, I’ve joined up with Master Yogi Eoin Finn to blissify my life. It’s true, I’ve definitely gone a bit “granola”. After reading about Finn’s week long class at Sempreviva Yoga, I decided to give it a whirl, wake up at 5:45 a.m. each morning and head on into the yoga studiofor a 6:30 a.m class to see what this Blissology is all about.
As it turns out, I am quite enjoying my early morning sessions, and although the classes are geared for any level, they are certainly giving the rather out-of-shape me, an intense hour plus of stretching.
Eoin started the 5 day course with an explanation of the 6 Daily Big Easy Bliss Commitments, which he explained to be a commitment to Yoga, Meditation, Nature Appreciation, Food Awareness and Gratitude. On the website there is also a Wild Card, but I either was still half asleep during this portion, or it still to be explained. I’ll be sure to ask tomorrow.
In class to date we do an hour plus of yoga, meditate and then for homework we are to eat good food, find some time each day to appreciate nature and be grateful for something. So far, I’ve done well in all categories, and I’ve even stayed away from alcohol, as there’d be no way I could pry myself out from under the covers at that ungodly hour with even a few glasses of wine, never mind my usual martinis.
So it’s Day 2 and I’m feeling good. I’ve eaten more fruit and veggies, drank more water, taken my vitamins, gone for some walks, thought about those I love and thanked many a person for the even the small gestures they’ve offered.
Am I blissed out? Well, I’m feeling pretty darn good. I’ve certainly got my share of exercise as I also walked for 1 1/2 today and took a dance class (I get a little obsessed about these things you see). I was way more productive at work today, felt way better about my romantic relationship and even was 1/2 ok as I stared at my humpty dumpty-like body in the mirror, willing the excess fat to melt away. At this rate, I’ll be leaping tall buildings in no time. But for now it’s 10 pm and I’ve got three more 6:30 a.m. classes to go before the week, so I better refuel in dreamland so I can jump out of bed in the morning and go figure out what this wild card is all about.
