The Ford Bronco Sport Sasquatch: The Compact Off-Roader BC Actually Needs
We drove the Ford Bronco Sport Sasquatch in November and got lucky again and picked it up when my overseas holiday got canceled this December. Fortunately some good came of my misadventures. It is certainly one of the coolest rides I drove thhis year., and I even bought a fleece to match it because I’m that extra. The Bronco Sport Sasquatch-style package—seen on Badlands trims and select Outer Banks models with dealer off-road upgrades—brings the full Bronco attitude into a practical compact SUV— one that actually fits into Vancouver parking stalls, by incredibly tight underground garage, and those narrow Kitsilano laneways.

It’s rugged, capable, and surprisingly easy to live with. Think of it as the friendly West Coast adventurer you can drive to work all week and take deep into the Fraser Valley or Sea-to-Sky every weekend. The Ford Bronco Sport starts at around $45,000 and adding the Sasquatch package knocks it up $7,500.

What Makes the Bronco Sport “Sasquatch-Level” Capable?
Even though the full Sasquatch package is exclusive to the larger Bronco, the Outer Banks model gives the Bronco Sport its highest-spec off-road kit — the closest thing to a true Sasquatch experience:
Key Features
- 2.0L EcoBoost engine with 250 hp – lively, responsive, and confident on hills
- Advanced 4×4 with twin-clutch rear drive unit – sends power where it’s needed
- Trail Control™ – off-road cruise control for steep, rocky terrain
- Upgraded suspension & all-terrain tires – noticeably smoother over gravel and logging roads
- G.O.A.T. Modes (Goes Over Any Terrain) including Mud/Ruts, Sand, Rock Crawl
- Water-resistant interior materials – great for muddy boots, wet jackets, and BC weather
It’s small enough that you can parallel park in Yaletown but rugged enough to tackle forestry roads around Squamish or access trailheads near Pemberton and Lillooet.
Driving the Bronco Sport in Vancouver
City Handling
Despite its off-road upgrades, this SUV behaves beautifully in the city. The steering feels precise, visibility is excellent thanks to its boxy shape, and its compact footprint makes maneuvering through downtown a breeze.

Parking in Tight Spaces
Unlike the full-size Bronco, the Bronco Sport has short overhangs and a manageable height — meaning it fits easily in older Vancouver parkades, including Kits Point, Gastown, and West End apartment garages.
Fuel Efficiency
The 2.0L engine delivers strong performance while still offering respectable fuel economy for an off-road-oriented SUV — ideal for mixed city/road-trip use.

Interior: Functional, Stylish, and Built for Weather
Ford designed the Bronco Sport Outer Shores interior with BC weather in mind:
- Rubberized cargo floors
- Washable seatbacks
- Zippered MOLLE straps for hiking gear
- Plenty of headroom thanks to the upright design
- Available panoramic sunroof to enjoy grey skies or sunny breaks
It’s practical without feeling sparse, and the upright seating position gives you a commanding view of the road.

GLV Verdict: A Rugged-Cute Urban Adventurer
