Press Release:
Victoria Pick of the Fringe Travis Bernhardt delves into his darker side in Abra-Cadaver Cabaret!
Local magician Travis Bernhardt has been enjoying a recent bout of success with his fringe show ‘Lies!’ but with the change in seasons he’s decided to try something a little more macabre.
“This show is a thrill to be a part of. The mix of acts is unlike anything else out there, and it’s a treat to explore some of the stranger, darker corners of the world of magic.”
And who better to embrace the darker side than with the shows producers Melody Mangler and Voodoo Pixie. A pair of burlesque beauties who have had their share of fame as well.
In 2009 Melody won ‘Best Debut’ at the Burlesque Hall of Fame and has since competed/performed in Vegas every year after in such categories as ‘Best Group’, ‘Innovators, Movers and Shakers’ and of course for the crown of ‘Queen of Burlesque’. She has also begun touring the world with her dynamite routines and outstanding costumes.
No stranger to Vegas herself, Voodoo Pixie just recently performed in the Burlesque Hall of Fame’s ‘Innovators, Movers and Shakers’ category, as well as ‘Best Group’ and has been spotted all over Vancouver. From Sin City events to the Waterfront theatre (where she co-starred in Screaming Chickens ‘Terror at Rock-Out Beach’) this petite copper haired cutie is certainly making a name for herself. Especially when it comes to the darker side of burlesque…
“This will be our third year doing Abra-Cadaver and it just keeps getting bigger and better.” Says Voodoo, with an impish smile. “It’s not your average show, we try and combine magic, burlesque, and theatre with horror. We want everyone to have a good time but make no mistake, we are going to try and scare and disturb the audience.”
Also joining the cast is Travis’ strange co-host, the towering and terrifying Aleister Crane, as well as a Spectral Theatre veterans David Quast, Andrew Harron, and Connie Cahoots.
The show will be a one night only event on October 19th at the Wise Hall, doors at 8pm, show at 9pm. Tickets available through http://
