Anh and Chi Celebrates 10 Years with a One-Night Bocuse d’Or Fundraiser Dinner

Mount Pleasant’s beloved family-run restaurant Anh and Chi is marking a decade in Vancouver’s dining scene with a one-night-only fundraiser dinner supporting Bocuse d’Or Team Canada — the international competition often described as the culinary Olympics.

On Sunday, March 8, 2026, guests can expect a multi-course tasting menu featuring fresh B.C. seafood, thoughtful Vietnamese flavours, and a warm sense of community that’s defined Anh and Chi since day one.

A family-led anniversary dinner (with a big purpose)

This special evening brings together two culinary families.

In the Anh and Chi kitchen, mother-and-son duo Chef Ly Nguyen and Chef Vincent Nguyen will be joined by Chef Keith Pears (Team Canada Bocuse d’Or leader, Pears Restaurant in Toronto) and his mother Lynda Larouche (chef-owner of Vancouver’s Argo Cafe).

The connection started when Anh and Chi co-founder Amélie Nguyen visited Argo Cafe and spotted Pears on a magazine cover representing Bocuse d’Or Team Canada. Both restaurants share a family-run spirit — and the belief that hospitality is stronger when it gives back.

Over the past 10 years, Anh and Chi’s Reservations by Donation program has helped raise and donate more than $500,000 to local charities and grassroots causes. This anniversary dinner extends that impact nationally by supporting the chefs representing Canada on the global stage.

What’s on the menu

The night features a 10-dish tasting menu highlighting fresh B.C. seafood and celebratory flavours. Expect dishes such as:

  • Geoduck Betel Leaf
  • Mini Rogue foie gras bánh mì
  • Cured King Salmon with coconut buttermilk sauce, crab oil, ikura, passionfruit gel, and jalapeño
  • Dungeness “Cà Ri Cua” Fried Rice
  • Đậu que & organic tofu with Me’s Sweet Soy
  • Caramelized Sablefish Kho Tộ wrapped in banana leaf
  • Bò Lúc Lắc–flavoured ribeye steak
  • Dessert: Chef Ly & Chef Lynda’s “love letter”

The event also includes a live auction, paddle raise, and 50/50 draw, co-hosted by Vancouver’s Fred Lee.

Why this fundraiser matters

Bocuse d’Or is one of the most prestigious culinary competitions in the world. Every two years, 24 top teams compete in Lyon, France, for international bragging rights — and a career-defining title.

Proceeds from this event support Bocuse d’Or Team Canada (part of Chefs Canada) via the BC Hospitality Foundation, helping fund training, equipment, and travel to the finals in Lyon in January 2027.

The date also lands on International Women’s Day, offering a meaningful moment to recognize the women who helped build the industry — including the two chef-moms at the heart of this dinner.
