Union Gospel Mission aligns with the Glowbal Restaurant Group to serve thousands of free, nutritious and delicious BBQ meals to the people of the Downtown Eastside. The new and improved Oppenheimer Park will be packed with guests enjoying all-natural hot dogs, BBQ’d beef brisket, ranch-style potato salad, coleslaw, and Nanaimo bars for dessert, all prepared by six chefs — one from each Glowbal Group restaurant.
“We are happy to partner with Union Gospel Mission once again,” says The GLOWBAL COLLECTION Proprietor, Emad Yacoub. “This event allows us to give back to the community, support outreach workers and connect with Vancouver’s people in difficulty and need.”

“Union Gospel Mission offers services from emergency relief to long-term housing and everything in between, but we hear again and again how positive changes all started with a meal,” says UGM President Bill Mollard. “So, when Glowbal Group approached us two years ago about hosting a gourmet summer BBQ, it was just a natural fit.” This will be Glowbal’s second summer BBQ with UGM to provide something special for those often neglected. “What impresses me about the Glowbal team is that they’re taking what they’re passionate about — which is really good food — and sharing that passion with those who may never otherwise experience a meal like this,” says Mollard.
