BCWAS Riedel and Mission Hill Tasting

Our annual October tasting is usually something a little different. Since it’s harvest, the wineries are too busy to come visit us, so we try to do something ourselves – and it’s always fun!

This year, we are very lucky to be able to bring you a comparative tasting with Riedel (rhymes with needle), the makers of fine wine glasses. We have been able to arrange a tasting with the Vinum XL series of their glasses, and we’re very happy to have David Sanders of Riedel lead us through this tasting.

If you’ve ever been to one of these tastings, you know that using the correct wine glass for your grape varietal really makes a difference. If you haven’t been to a comparative tasting, you will be converted!

It’s a great deal, as well as a really fun and educational experience. These glasses normally retail for $166 for a box of 4 – one each of Riesling, Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, and Cabernet/Merlot. Before you fall off your chair in shock, you can attend our tasting for the incredible price of just $70 and take home a box of 4 Riedel Vinum XL glasses!

You didn’t misread that! Attend our tasting and for $70, you will get the boxed set of four different glasses (worth $166), the experience of the comparative tasting led by Riedel’s David Sanders, plus the wines for the evening.  (Just to compare, this exact event was offered last week by another club for $100.)  The whole experience will cost 55% less than the regular price of the glasses alone.

Mission Hill is very generously donating some of their excellent wines for this event.  We will be tasting:

2009 Reserve Riesling

2007 Reserve Chardonnay

2008 Reserve Pinot Noir

2005 SLC Merlot.

And … because we like to make these events even more interesting, we’re going to be raffling off a gorgeous Riedel decanter – just the thing for your next dinner party!

What if you don’t want one each of the four different kinds of glasses? You may be able to swap with others at the event, but we can’t make any guarantees. We think that once you see how beautifully each wine tastes in its own glass, you’ll want to keep them all!

To avoid disappointment, book early for this event.
