spring-hair-and-makeupBeautyCouncil, in association with presenting sponsor L’Oréal Professionnel, charity sponsor Goldwell/KMS Ca, community sponsor AG Hair & media sponsor City, are pleased to present the 4th Annual Show Off event. This is a celebration of hair fashion, on Monday, March 25, 2013 at 7 pm at the Vogue Theatre, 918 Granville Street, Vancouver.

Show Off will feature ten of BC’s most notable salons, set to take centre stage with their unique interpretations of hair fashion in this inspirational event. It’s an opportunity for salons to show off their talent, creativity and latest trends in a hair-inspired performance art to peers, family, friends and the general public.

The ten salons include:

ü Eliane Hair Spa

ü Lounge Hair Studio

ü The Megahair Family

ü A Michael Levine Salon Group

ü Opus Salon

ü Suki’s

ü Tonic Hair Salon

ü Union Salons

ü Zazou Salon & Spa

ü Zinc Hair

Each salon will have up to five minutes to light up the stage with a maximum of five models or dancers. The models and dancers will embody the stylists’ artistic interpretations of this year’s Show Off theme, “natural glamour”, in every detail including hair, makeup, costume, music and overall performance.

As the voice for cosmetology professionals, BeautyCouncil is dedicated to the personal, creative and financial success of Western Canada’s many talented beauty professionals. “This is an inspirational evening about bringing the industry together to celebrate our shared passion and appreciate what’s happening in Western Canada’s hair world,” said Tara Gilbert, CEO of BeautyCouncil.

“Show Off is also a charitable event and we’re proud to be supporting the Look Good Feel Better. We’ll be donating a portion of the event’s net proceeds to empower women to manage the effects that cancer and its treatment have on their appearance and morale,” continued Gilbert.

“At Look Good Feel Better, we believe that if a woman can be helped to look more like herself during treatment, her spirits will be lifted and she’ll be able to face her illness with more confidence. But beyond the therapeutic effects of looking good, our workshops provide a safe and welcoming environment where women can share stories and support. A Look Good Feel Better workshop experience helps women realize they are not alone on their journey. Fundraising events like Show Off help ensure we can continue to offer these free workshops to Canadian women when they need it most,” said Sherry Abbott, Executive Director of CCTFA Foundation.

New this year is the Beauty Blowout Contest where a draw will be held on the night of Show Off for a winner and 3 of your friends to WIN a free hair wash, hair treatment & blowout (up to $1000 value). The winner must be present at the night of Show Off to claim this prize.

The popular People’s Choice Award will continue to be selected by a live public “text” vote at Show Off. Audience members will have the opportunity to text-in their favourite Show Off salon’s performance. The winning salon will be announced at the after-party held in the Republic Night Club, at 10 pm on March 25, 2013.

“BeautyCouncil would like to thank our sponsors and the participating salons for their continued passion, dedication and commitment to make this year’s Show Off another resounding success,” concluded Gilbert.

Tickets are $30 for BeautyCouncil members, $40 for non-members and $60 at the door. Tickets are now on sale through the Vogue Theatre at voguetheatre.com/events.php or 604-569-1144.

About Look Good Feel Better and FacingCancer.ca: Look Good Feel Better is Canada’s only cancer charity dedicated to empowering women to manage the effects that cancer and its treatment can have on their appearance. At the heart of the program is the free, two-hour hands-on workshop that comes complete with a complimentary cosmetic and personal care kit. At the workshop women with cancer learn simple cosmetic techniques, nail and skin care tips, hair alternatives and cosmetic hygiene, to help them look a little more like themselves again. Beyond beauty, it’s the support from other women, the sharing of empowering information, support of compassionate volunteers and laughter that helps workshop participants gain confidence, lift spirits and take control.  Look Good Feel Better workshops are offered at 119 hospitals and cancer care facilities across Canada, and have served more than 140,000 women since 1992. Hundreds of thousands more have been helped by the program’s 1.800 information line, website and annual magazine.

Launched in 2010, FacingCancer.ca is a companion program to Look Good Feel Better, offering an online community where women with cancer and those who support them can share, confide and connect with each other to help manage the social and emotional effects of living with cancer.
