Black Hills Wine Dinner at Lumière – Monday June 21

This very special food and wine experience is among the first of a series created by Grand Chef Dale MacKay and Wine Director Kevin Van Hullebush.

This event celebrates the culinary talents of Chef MacKay, and the critically-acclaimed and much-loved wines of Black Hills Estate Winery, one of the Okanagan Valley’s most popular wineries and producers of the critically-acclaimed Nota Bene bordeaux style wine.

Please join us June 21st as Dale and Pastry Chef Celeste Mah create a truly extraordinary food and wine experience to celebrate the coming of spring.

Joining Kevin Van Hullebush and Sommelier Drew Walker in co-hosting the evening will be a special guest from Black Hills.

The new wine dinner series events take place only on Monday nights when Lumière is otherwise closed for private parties.  Wine Dinner guests then, have our beautiful 45-seat jewel box of a restaurant all to themselves.

About Black Hills Vineyards

Black Hills Estate Winery was established in 1996 and proudly presents wines that have been carefully hand-crafted from vineyard to bottle. The terroir on our 27 acre vineyard on Black Sage Road near Oliver is some of the most exceptional in Canada. A combination of rugged desert earth, long sunlight hours and cool nights yields the intensely flavoured grapes for which we are renowned. The deep sand and intense heat of this micro-climate enable the growth of exceptional Bordeaux grapes which are carefully hand-picked by our team.

The Terroir on this 27-acre property is some of the most exceptional in the country. Located on the famed Black Sage Bench, our vineyard has a microclimate that makes it one of the hottest, driest and sunniest sites in Canada. The west-facing orientation combined with our deep desert sand, intense heat and cool nights yield intensely flavorful grapes. With careful irrigation techniques and intensely focused viticulture practices, these are ideal growing conditions for both the “Big Reds” and our aromatic whites.

Our vineyard was first planted in 1996 and has been producing increasingly better wine grapes with each vintage. Plantings include the Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Cabernet Franc that go into our ultra-popular Nota Bene blend. Further, we grow a deep, luscious Carmenere grape on our site that goes into our single varietal Carmenere. We also grow crisp, ripe Sauvignon and Semillon grapes in our vineyard that are used to create our Alibi white blend. We also have approximately two acres that we use for the growing of our fresh and exciting Chardonnay varietal.
