Apothekari – Pharmacist Designed and Locally Made
When I was getting ready for my wedding, which was exactly five months ago as of tomorrow, I was taking a lot better care of myself and the results were obvious. I was watching what I ate and drank more closely, and working out a ton. I also began paying particular attention to my skin care and discovered locally made Apothekari Dermaceuticals. I have Rosacea, which flairs up when I exercise it seems, so since I wasn’t giving up my fitness efforts, I really needed something for my sensitive skin. I went with their recommendations and stated using the Daily Infusion Moisturizer, Cloud Nine Foaming Cleansing Creme and added a retinoid treatment A is for Anti-Aging Serum, formulated with with retinaldehyde, the most gentle form of Vitamin A.
I wish I could say my Rosacea was completely cured, but I think that’s something that I need more serious efforts to address, (cue laser) but I did notice a huge difference, reduced redness, and also found that my skin was glowing and looking far fresher day by day. All their products are paraben-free, SLES free (sodium laureth sulfate) free, Formaldehyde Free, phthalate-free, cruelty-free and also free from highly sensitizing ingredients such as fragrances, synthetic colors and sodium lauryl sulfate (SLS). Some ‘natural’ and organic ingredients (such as many essential oils) can be highly irritating to skin, especially mine with the Rrosacea issue, and Apothekari avoids those as much as possible. Sharmani Pillay, the founder and formulator of the line, is a pharmacist and extremely passionate and analytical about what she formulates.
If you have sensitive skin, I’d highly recommend these products and I will be continuing on with using them myself. I also love their Bamboo, Lemongrass body polish and this holiday season they will be releasing a Vanilla Rose Sugar version and Lemon Verbena Sugar, as well as an Antioxidant Cleansing Oil. Here’s to local, effective skin care!
