Regional qualifier for the Canadian Culinary Championships brings the best from sport, music and food
The Kitchen Party – Victoria edition – is a regional qualifier for the Canadian Culinary Championships, which will be held in Kelowna, BC in February 2019. Nine chefs will be competing on Thursday, October 25th the Victoria Conference Centre, in the hopes of following in Chef Chen’s footsteps, last year’s national champion.
The chefs selected to compete at the Kitchen Party – Victoria edition are:

★ Paul Cecconi – Brodo Kitchen

★ Takashi Ito – AURA waterfront restaurant + patio
★ Tony Starratt – Two Rivers Specialty Meats
★ Felix Zhou – Heritage Asian Eatery
“The celebration of Canadian Excellence has always been at the core of our what we do” said co- founder, Karen Blair. “The Victoria event is one of eleven “Kitchen Party’s” across the country. Expect a sizzling and intense culinary competition by the best chefs in the city. The music will be outstanding for the 500+ guests! And there will be a great cross section of over 30 amazing Canadian elite athletes from amateur, para and pro-sport!”
Musicians include the Order of Canada recipient, multi-Juno award winner and Canadian Music Hall of Fame inductee, Jim Cuddy of Blue Rodeo, Juno award winner Barney Bentall, fiddler extraordinaire, Anne Lindsay, Juno nominated Devin Cuddy and Jim Cuddy’s other son, Sam Polley will be the featured entertainers at the event. This star-studded line up will be joined by local hockey legend, Russ Courtnall as emcee for the evening!
In Victoria, athletes include: Ghislaine Landry (women’s rugby), Ryan Cochrane (swimming), Charity Williams (women’s rugby), Simon Whitfield (triathlon), Michelle Stillwell (paralympic track and field), Adam Kreek (rowing), Kyle Frederickson (paralympic rowing) and Kevin Light (rowing).
In addition to the culinary competition, the musical entertainment and mingling with the athletes, guests will have the opportunity to bid on one-of-a-kind trips within Canada and outside of Canada to places like Newfoundland, Napa, Morocco, Vietnam, Tuscany, Big White/Kelowna and Mallorca and ultimately will be supporting the great work of the three beneficiaries – each representing one of the pillars of Canada’s Great Kitchen Party: B2ten (sport) MusiCounts (music) and Community Food Centres Canada (food).
